Roy Keane believes some Man United players set themselves up for disaster before the shambolic second half performance in the 7-0 thrashing to Liverpool.
He told Sky Sports: “I see one or two players come out in the second half having a laugh and a joke. They’re 1-0 down at Anfield and they’re having a laugh and a joke with the Anfield staff, the goalkeeping coach.
“I don’t like to see that rubbish. Do not like to see it. You look at half time, there’s a couple of players having a laugh and a joke, you’re 1-0 down at Anfield, you’re here to work.
“This is serious business, this is big boy stuff, forget this laughing and joking rubbish. Then you’re talking about the second half and lads are throwing the towel in.”
This is quite the shocking revelation from Keane and indication that the player were nowhere near focused enough to mount any kind of a comeback in the second half after going down late in the first half.
Erik ten Hag will look to ensure this never happens again and bring more discipline to the team to get them to improve their away form into the final months of the season.
