Scarlett Johansson dished on her longtime friendship with Marvel co-star Chris Evans in a new podcast interview and revealed why her husband Colin Jost won’t practice scenes with her.
The 36-year-old star had a candid chat on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham, on Thursday.
Her stand-alone Marvel film, Black Widow, is slated to finally premiere in July after being delayed multiple times due to COVID-19.

Scarlett has starred as the Black Widow since 2010 but her friendship with Captain America AKA Chris Evans goes back even longer than that, she explained.
‘I’ve been very close with Chris for such a long time’, the actress revealed. ‘With the first time we worked together, we did a movie called The Perfect Score when I was 17.’
‘We spent lot of time talking about relationships. We spent a lot of time talking about our families, other people’s relationships, like all of it,’ she continued.
‘We could talk for hours, and about all kinds of stuff, in a way the sort of like big sister relationship that Nat has sometimes with Steve – even though Chris is a couple of years older than me – but I think we sort of have that same dynamic,’ Scarlett concluded.

The Perfect Score was a 2004 teen comedy starring Johansson and Evans alongside Erika Christensen, Bryan Greenberg, Darius Miles, and Leonardo Nam as college bound students from New Jersey who try to steal the answers to the SAT.
A few years later the actors would both find themselves within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as superheroes who would later become The Avengers – Chris as Captain America / Steve Rogers and Scarlett as Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff.
Johansson’s highly anticipated solo Marvel flick, Black Widow, is finally set to hit theaters after years in the making and months of delays because of the pandemic.

One person who will no doubt be surprised by the film will be her own husband, SNL star Colin Jost, who refuses to practice scenes with her for fear of having the movie spoiled.
‘He doesn’t like any spoilers though, so I can’t tell him anything and he doesn’t even pry,’ she revealed.
‘When we were shooting this film in London, Colin was also there shooting Tom and Jerry, which worked out great ’cause we were together in the same city for a long time which is rare,’ Scarlett continued. ‘If I was in the middle of a big action set piece or sequence or whatever, he was just not wanting to hear anything about it.

‘Of course he wants to know how was your day, but as soon as it would bleed into, ‘can you read this scene with me,’ he was like, ‘am I going to get any spoilers or like…’ He wanted to know spoiler alert before we read lines together,’ she said, adding with mock shock: ‘Can you believe that?’
Black Widow chronologically takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and prior to Scarlett’s character being killed off in Avengers: Endgame.
It will be the 24th film in the franchise and the first of phase four in the MCU.
Black Widow hits theaters on July 9 and will be simultaneously released on Disney+ the same day.
