Toni Kroos has claimed he does not feel sorry for team-mate Eden Hazard after the Belgian spoke of his disappointment after being frozen out at Real Madrid this season.
Hazard has not played for Los Blancos for over two months, with the 32-year-old managing just 296 minutes for the reigning European champions during the campaign.
In a stunning interview this week, Hazard also revealed he was no longer on speaking terms with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti later confirmed the pair did not talk much, but denied their relationship was ‘cold’.
Kroos was asked by Belgian television about Hazard’s situation, with the Real Madrid midfielder acknowledging it was ‘difficult’ but suggested the winger does have some responsibility for his of action.

‘Compassion is out of place in football. I don’t think Eden has a bad life,’ Kroos said, as reported by AS Diario. ‘You can pity people who are clearly going through it worse.
‘It’s not about money, I just haven’t felt sorry for anyone in football.
‘Of course, the situation has been difficult for a long time, but at the end of the day, everyone is to some extent responsible for their own situation.
‘That’s why I think pity is out of place.
‘I know Eden very well, we talk often, but I only pity people who are in very bad situations and Eden is not one of them.’
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had claimed this week Hazard had believed he would get a chance following the World Cup in Qatar, causing his fellow Belgian to express disappointment at his situation.
Despite being put on the periphery of the squad, Hazard recently announced he has no intention of leaving the club this summer and wants to see out the final year of his contract – worth £470,000 per week.
Hazard moved to the Spanish giants in 2019 for an initial £88.3m, with the Athletic reporting that the triggering of some add-ons means the cost for the Belgian has now surpassed the previous club record £90m fee Real paid for Gareth Bale in 2013.
The forward signed a five-year deal and became Real Madrid’s highest paid player.

Hazard admitted that he wants to ‘feel important’ and regain confidence on the pitch, having previously excelled for Chelsea over a seven-year-spell at Stamford Bridge.
‘I miss it, I want to play, I want to have fun on the field,’ Hazard Belgian outlet RTBF. ‘I hope deep inside me that I can bring something and that the coach is still counting on me.
Hazard retired from international football following the World Cup in Qatar, with his two group stage appearances marking the final games of his 126-cap career with Belgium.
The forward admitted he didn’t like playing at the tournament ahead of a ‘deserving’ new generation of players.
