Puppy therapy is the best therapy, just ask Selena Gomez!

The 25-year-old ‘Fetish’ singer — who recently revealed she underwent a kidney transplant earlier this year — has been spotted in New York City with a furbaby of her own.

Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, reportedly stole Selena’s heart in early September while she was shopping with her boyfriend, The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) in New York. And the next week, Selena’s assistant was spotted going back to the pet store, presumably to pick up the tiny pooch.

Now, Selena has been parading her four-legged friend around the set of her upcoming Woody Allen film and sharing adorable videos of the pup with her fans via her Instagram story.

Despite The Weeknd, 27, not having been spotted with Charlie at all, fans seem to think the couple bought the pup together. And while many have been cooing over the canine cuteness, some have taken aim at them for purchasing Charlie from a pet store, rather than adopting him from a shelter.

“Sad that Selena bought a puppy instead of adopting,” one fan tweeted.

While another wrote, “Why am I not surprised Selena Gomez got a puppy from a pet store.”

According to People, the megastar spoke out in support for shelter dogs back in 2010, when she revealed she had adopted a total of five pooches.

“It just never made sense to any of us not to get a shelter dog, since there are so many that need homes,” she told the publication.

On September 15, Selena made headlines when she revealed on Instagram that she received a kidney transplant as treatment for Lupus, a chronic disease that attacks the immune system and kidneys. Her best friend, fellow actress Francia Raisa was the donor.
