Why is Blackbeard so interested in Egghead? Find out what the devious pirate has up his sleeve.
The Egghead Island, also known as the Future Island, is home to Dr. Vegapunk and his six satellites. It is filled with various futuristic technologies that normal people can only dream about. When the Straw Hats arrived at Egghead, they could not believe the things that they were seeing. They saw robots, lasers, modified Sea Beasts, and holograms.
As they explored the island, they found even more interesting things, including the Seraphim and the six satellites of Dr. Vegapunk. The Straw Hats were puzzled at first, but slowly they began to admire the technology created by the best scientist in the One Piece world. The Egghead arc has been full of surprises for the Straw Hats and One Piece fans. Not only did they find out about the Seraphim project, but they also came to know that Veagpunk’s life was in danger. The scientist himself revealed that he had dabbled in the forbidden, which placed him on the radar of the World Government.
Where It All Started
Vegapunk told the Straw Hats to help him get off the island safely. Luffy did not object to his request, and he was more than happy to take the scientist along. But before the Straw Hats and Vegapunk could get off the island, CP0 turned up at the location. The assassins were tasked with eliminating Vegapunk. Since the Sea Beast Weapons were guarding the island, Lucci used the power of S-Bear to get inside the laboratory and start looking for their target. Luffy and co. stopped CP0 in its tracks. Despite a few hiccups, the heroes managed to quell the threat of the assassins. Once Lucci and Kaku were in chains, the Straw Hats could finally leave Egghead.
However, their hopes were dealt a major blow when Vegapunk’s main body disappeared without a trace. This prompted the Straw Hats and the satellites to start looking for him. Not long after they had started their search, they were attacked by the Seraphim. This caused chaos all around Egghead Island, and there were no possible clues that would have enabled the heroes to figure out the identity of the traitor. Many fans believed that the traitor could be Caribou, but it was later revealed that it was York. She had betrayed her creator and her fellow satellites because of her greed. She wanted to become a Celestial Dragon, which is why she tried to strike a deal with the Five Elders. While the Straw Hats continued looking for Vegapunk, unbeknownst to them, a fleet of 100 ships was headed their way. Admiral Kizaru was spearheading the charge, and he was accompanied by Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. As if things couldn’t get any worse, in the recent chapter it was revealed that Blackbeard’s ship was outside the waters of Egghead Island.
What Does Blackbeard Want?
Blackbeard is a known opportunist who will go to any lengths to ensure that his goals are met. However, the last time fans saw Blackbeard, he was engaged in a duel with Trafalgar Law. If he turns up at Egghead, it would mean that the Yonko managed to get the better of his fellow Worst Generation member. Later in chapter 1079, it was revealed that Kid had been defeated by Shanks. The two incidents mean that two of Luffy’s biggest rivals are no longer in the race to become the Pirate King.
However, there are a few things that go against the possibility of Blackbeard being near Egghead Island. Firstly, Blackbeard seemed to be struggling against Law, and in an all-out fight, the Yonko might have picked up an injury or two. Secondly, Blackbeard was specifically waiting at Winner Island because he knew that at least one of Law, Luffy, or Kid would come there. Finally, no ship would be able to cover the distance between Egghead and Winner Island in such a short time. So, it makes more sense that Blackbeard might have sent some of his Ten Titanic Captains to Egghead Island. But, who could it possibly be?
The Admiral Returns
Considering the fact that Egghead used to be under the World Government’s control, it would make sense to send someone familiar with the place, and the Blackbeard Pirates have just the man. Aokiji joined the Blackbeard Pirates after leaving the Marines. He used to be an Admiral, so it is plausible to assume that at some point he met Vegapunk or at least visited his laboratory. This makes Aokiji the perfect candidate to lead the Blackbeard Pirates’ attack on Egghead Island. Blackbeard might have sent his crew members to Egghead so that they could get their hands on one of the Seraphim, or maybe something else caught his eye. There is also a chance that Caribou might join Blackbeard’s crew and offer him information about two of the Ancient Weapons.
If Blackbeard were to turn up at Egghead himself, things would become even more chaotic. Monkey D. Garp has already made it clear that he will not stop until he has freed Koby from the clutches of the Yonko. If he somehow finds out about Blackbeard being near Egghead, then he would also go there. This would lead to an epic battle royale that would include the Straw Hats, Vegapunk, CP0, Admiral Kizaru, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, Blackbeard Pirates, Seraphim, and Monkey D. Garp. Having all these big names gathered at the same place and at the same time would be nothing short of incredible, and it would be a truly magnificent way to end the Egghead arc.
