Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been racially abused after missing a penalty against West Ham in the Premier League match, Sunday (16/4).
Launching The Mirror, Monday, Saka through his social media received racist messages sent by a number of users following his failure to execute a penalty against West Ham.
This is the second time the English players have received the same treatment. In 2020, Saka missed a crucial penalty when The Three Lions faced Italy in the Euro 2020 final. Saka, along with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, were made scapegoats for England’s defeat.
Until now there has been no official statement from Arsenal or the Premier League regarding the racial treatment that Saka received. However, a number of supports from several groups flooded Saka’s social media comments column.
In the Premier League or Premier League match, Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts West Ham after winning 2-0 first.
The Gunners excelled through goals from Gabriel Jesus (7th minute) and Martin Odegaard (10th minute). West Ham equalized through Said Benrahma (33rd minute) and Jarrod Bowen (54th minute)
The club nicknamed London Cannon actually had the opportunity to double the lead through the white point in the 52nd minute, but unfortunately Saka’s execution went sideways to the right side of West Ham’s goal.
With the failure of Mikel Arteta’s men to bring full points away from The Hammers, this made Arsenal’s steps even steeper to win the Premier League.
Arsenal are now at the top of the standings after gaining 74 points, four points ahead of Manchester City who still have one game less left.
