Law has Luffy to blame for getting him directly involved in a fight with the Four Emperors. He has every right to get mad, even if things worked out.
Trafalgar Law has spent a lot of his screen time in One Piece being aggravated by Luffy’s antics. He initially allied with the Straw Hat Pirates thinking it would be a good way to further his goals. He was right, but it came at a great cost.
In teaming up with Luffy, Law ended up being dragged into his fight with the Four Emperors. Things may have worked out in the end, but fighting them himself was still more than he bargained for. This could eventually turn into something he holds against the Straw Hats in the future.
How Did Law End Up Battling the Emperors?
It’s important to remember that Law never meant to battle the Emperors in the first place, at least not with the Straw Hats’ help. When he teamed up with them, he just wanted to turn Kaido on Doflamingo. When Luffy beat Doflamingo himself, however, the King of the Beasts directed his anger at the Straw Hats and the Heart Pirates instead. That was when the Surgeon of Death began working on a real plan to fight the Emperor.
Law probably has mixed feelings on this matter. Doflamingo was the object of his vendetta for 13 years, so seeing him finally beaten was probably cathartic. Compared to that, the pain of getting injured and possibly killed by an Emperor might be worth it.
Unfortunately for Law, Luffy also picked a fight with a second Emperor on his way to Wano. The Straw Hat captain had been getting on Big Mom’s bad side since Fishman Island; he and Law probably could have talked about that when forming their alliance. Regardless, the other Emperor followed Luffy to the land of the samurai and teamed up with Kaido.
This team-up between the Emperors forced a team battle between them and the pirates of the Worst Generation. Besides Luffy and Law, this also included Zoro, Eustass Kid, and Killer. This isn’t a bad team on Law’s end, but he never had any business battling Big Mom in the first place.
If there were a straw to break the camel’s back, it would be Law being left to deal with Big Mom in Luffy’s place. Somewhere during the fight with the Emperors, the goal became splitting them up so that they’d be a little easier to finish off. However, while Luffy was left alone to battle Kaidō, it was Law and Kid who had to battle Big Mom. The Surgeon of Death might have even lost his life if Kid weren’t there to help.
How Should Law Feel About Having to Fight the Emperors?
In reality, Law shouldn’t have that much of a problem with battling Emperors. Besides the notoriety that comes with beating one, a confrontation with Kaido and Big Mom was the only way to get access to their Road Poneglyphs. Law once said he wanted to find the One Piece, so he would have had to fight these Emperors sooner or later. Sure enough, not only did they each leave Wano with a 3 billion-Berry bounty, but Law also got a copy of Kaidō’s Road Poneglyph. As annoying as the journey was, it was worth it.
That said, Law probably would have preferred to do things with a carefully-laid plan that wasn’t sabotaged by Luffy’s recklessness. In any case, now that their business is concluded, they intend to compete with each other in the race to the One Piece like they were always meant to. If Law wanted an excuse to give Luffy a hard time right back, he could always bring up anything he was put through during their alliance, especially the Emperors.
