EMMA Watson watched reality TV shows Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Hills to prepare for her role in The Bling Ring, which premieres at Cannes 2013 tonight.
The Harry Potter actress said watching the American programmes, which star Kim Kardashian and Heidi Montag, helped her empathise with her character in the movie.The 23-year-old plays a celebrity obsessed Los Angeles teeanger called Nicki in the latest movie from award winning director Sofia Coppola.The film, which is based on a Varity Fair, charts a group of youths who rob celebrities like Paris Hilton and Orlando Bloom while they’re out at premieres.Speaking on the red carpet, Emma said: “It’d be very easy for Nicki to feel like a parody.

“Somehow I had to understand and empathise with her and that was really biggest challenge, second to getting the accent down. At Cannes she told reporters she was proud of her work on the Harry Potter movies, even though it feels a long time ago.She said: “I’m not trying to run away from it.”I’ve just had an amazing three or four years. I’m really re-enjoying having the chance to transform into new roles and work with new creative people.”Emma is set to star in apocalyptic comedy This is The End and Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah.
