After losing Game 1 of the series, the Phoenix Suns have wrapped things up in their first-round matchup vs. the Los Angeles Clippers.
Devin Booker had a sensational 47-point performance in Game 5 to send the Suns to the Western Conference Semifinals. After the game, Kevin Durant talked about Booker’s performance and explained why he is grateful to play alongside the 26-year-old.
“He’s one of those guys that works on his game,” Durant said. “He produces every year, and he shows up in big moments. So he carried us, man. He made sure we wasn’t gonna lose this game. His shot-making was incredible. His play-making was incredible. We fed off his energy tonight, and also, the crowd fed off his energy. He’s a special, special human being. Special player. I’m just grateful I get a chance to play with him.”
Apart from scoring 47 points, Booker recorded 8 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals in the 136-130 win over the Clippers.
As for Kevin Durant, he had a decent game as well, where he had 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. The dynamic duo of the Phoenix Suns looks in great touch, and it’s certainly good news for the team as they face the Denver Nuggets next.
Kevin Durant On What He Loves About Devin Booker’s Game
The duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker is more than enough to give nightmares to any defense in the NBA. A perfect example of this was the Suns vs. the Clippers’ opening-round series in the 2023 NBA playoffs.
Durant has always spoken highly about Booker’s game. Even before the start of the postseason, KD once revealed what he loves the most about Booker’s game.
“I like his work ethic,” Durant said. “I remember seeing him in college, I loved his form on his jump shot at a young age. So I was like, I can tell he’s been working on his game. So just following him over the years, just seeing how quickly he developed. His IQ for the game. He understands the game. I like guys that can score from all areas of the floor and being around somebody that works like that and cares about the game like that is only going to help me. So, I’m looking forward to being around him.”
Well, as Durant expected, his partnership with Booker is producing fruitful results for the Phoenix Suns.
If they can keep up with this level of chemistry, the Suns will certainly remain a threat to win the 2023 NBA Championship.
