Chelsea fans have been quick to share their opinion as the Blues look set to name Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s next boss.
The West London club are closing in on appointing the Argentinian as a successor to Graham Potter, after entering final negotiations over terms with the former Tottenham boss.
Pochettino became the front runner to replace current interim boss Frank Lampard, after Julian Naglesmann, who was believed to be the first-choice candidate of senior members of the Blues hierarchy, dropped out of the race to be the club’s next manager.
Upon hearing the news that the 51-year-old Pochettino is set to be named Chelsea manager, Blues fans have shared their views on social media.
‘Pochettino has all our support let’s go gaffer.’ Led one post on Twitter, accompanied by a blue heart and praying hands emoji as they look to Pochettino to be the man to turn the club around.
Mauricio Pochettino is set to be appointed the new manager of Chelsea if terms are agreed
Chelsea fans are excited to see the Argentinian gaffer arrive at Stamford Bridge as new boss
Another fan shared in the excitement of his arrival, by simply saying: ‘What a special man you are Mr Pochettino I can’t wait.’
Others gave more of an explanation to why they think Pochettino will be a good fit at Stamford Bridge. Praising his work with young players and believing he is a good fit for the current squad.
One user said: Overall, I think Pochettino is a good fit for the profile of squad we have. Young, energetic players who appear to suit a pressing-intense approach and high-line. He’s done a broadly similar job at Spurs before but this time, you’d imagine he’ll have financial backing from above.’
That opinion was share by another fan, who also singled out Mason Mount as a player who would possibly benefit from having the Argentine as manager and stated: I think with Pochettino’s style of play it actually suits Mount down to the ground, Boehly absolutely wants it as you can tell with all these talks going on, Mount wants it but for the right price,I really really hope they can come to a compromise.’
Amongst the positivity there were some though who aren’t best pleased about Pochettino’s move to Chelsea, both from fans of the club and his old side Tottenham.
Some fans aren’t happy to see Pochettino’s appointment especially those of his old club Spurs
Spurs fans can’t bear to see their former gaffer becoming the new boss across the capital.
‘Pochettino on the verge of becoming Chelsea manager. Yet again the wrong appointment we’re finished.’ Wrote one disappointed Blues fan.
However, most of the complaints came from north of the capital, with Spurs fans coming to terms with seeing their former gaffer in the dugout at the Bridge.
‘I will be sad when they appoint Poch at Chelsea. End of statement.’ said one Tottenham supporter, while for another it meant he no longer saw Pochettino in the same light tweeting: ‘Honestly, any other job but Chelsea or Arsenal is that step too far. Won’t hate him, but won’t consider him a Tottenham hero. Guess this needed to happen for us to move on.’
Perhaps, though the most hilarious tweet was from one user who played on Tottenham’s current trophy drought and the prospect of Pochettino winning something on the other side of London.
Amusingly quipping: ‘If Mauricio Pochettino wins a trophy at Chelsea, Spurs may as well liquidate.’
