He may be in a relationship with one of the world’s most beautiful women.
But Jason Statham opted to take an altogether less glamorous date along to the premiere of his new film The Expendables 3 – Vinnie Jones.
The Mean Machine co-stars lapped up the attention as they walked the red carpet at the event in Leicester Square in London on Monday.
(Bad) Boys’ night out: Jason Statham headed out for dinner at The Ivy with his old friend Vinnie Jones after taking him to the premiere of The Expendables 3
Reunion: The pair has been close since shooting Guy Ritchie’s gangster hit Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998
Speaking at the premiere, Vinnie revealed that he was Jason’s plus one for the night, but was under strict instructions from Rosie not to let the evening get out of hand.
He said: ‘I’m here to make sure Jason doesn’t stay late. Rosie sent me!’
After the special screening of the third installment in the franchise, the duo headed out for dinner at celebrity haunt The Ivy.
Bromance: Vinnie had told reporters at the premiere in London that he was under strict orders from Jason’s girlfriend Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to look after her beau
Fan-demonium: The duo stopped to signs autographs for devotees outside the celebrity haunt
They then hit the film’s after party at the capital’s DSTRKT club to carry on their evening with Jason’s castmates, including the blockbuster’s director Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes.
The pair have been close pals since starring in Guy Ritchie’s gangster hit Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
They went on to appear in a string of films together, including Mean Machine and Snatch.
Mean Machine: Despite opting for a indulgent meal instead of a rowdy night out, Vinnie’s stare proves he has lost none of his menace
A quiet meal with an old friend is just what Jason needs after a stunt during the making of the movie almost ended in disaster.
Speaking at the premiere, Sylvester explained how the 47-year-old’s former career as an professional diver helped save him when a truck he was travelling in during filming careered into the ocean.
The Rambo legend told the Daily Mirror: ‘He faced death. He was test-driving a three-ton truck and the brakes run out.
Party time: After the catch-up meal, the pals headed to the DSTRKT club for the official after party
Hats off: Alongside their smart suits, Jason and Vinnie now have matching shaven heads
‘It went down 60ft into the Black Sea and became impaled. Luckily we had taken the doors off before.
‘If anyone else had been in that truck we would have been dead because we were all wearing heavy boots and gun belts.
‘We would have drowned. But because Jason is an Olympic-quality diver he got out of it.’
Meanwhile, model Rosie has praised her tough guy beau for keeping her grounded in Los Angeles.
Suited and booted: The pair posed for photographers on the red carpet at the special screening in Leicester Square earlier in the evening
Taking Stock: Jason and Vinnie alongside director Guy Ritchie, Matthew Vaughn, Nick Moran and Martin Clunes after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels won a BAFTA in 1998
Speaking in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the beauty said: ‘That’s what makes being with an Englishman out there so great. I mean, we live in Hollywood for f**k’s sake. It would be easy to lose touch with reality.’
The catwalk queen also insisted she is never going to be caught on camera having wild nights out.
She added: ‘I do try and make sure that I conduct myself in a way that I think is appropriate, but at the same time I’m still going to live my life … I’m not the girl falling out of a nightclub with my knickers around me ankles.’
Everything’s Rosie: She may have stayed at home, but Rosie has heaped praise on her tough guy boyfriend for helping her stay grounded while they live in Hollywood
