In these playoffs, Jamal Murray has shown that he is one of the best point guards in the world with his performances for the Denver Nuggets. He has averaged 27.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 6.2 APG in the playoffs, and it is clear that he is an absolute star.
There is no doubt that many were impressed with Jamal Murray’s performances, including former NBA player Jay Williams. In fact, in his recent list of “scariest player” that are still in the playoffs, he put Jamal Murray 3rd, ahead of Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Jamal Murray has built a reputation for rising in the fourth quarters, and he’s definitely scary in clutch moments. Still, some would say that LeBron James and Anthony Davis deserve the benefit of the doubt, especially since they’ve won championships before and everyone knows the impact that they have on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Jamal Murray Thinks He Deserves More Respect In The League
It is fair to say at this point that Jamal Murray was extremely underrated heading into this season’s playoffs. In fact, Jamal Murray has recently claimed that he deserves more respect, noting that he is “better than a lot of players” in the NBA.
“I don’t think I get enough respect as I should be,” Murray told Andscape on Thursday night. “I’m better than a lot of players in the league. Every time I see rankings of guys I think, ‘Man, that is crazy.’ Maybe it’s because I have been out for so long. But if we win the chip, it changes everything.”
If the Denver Nuggets end up winning the championship, then it is likely that Jamal Murray will get the respect that he craves. He would be part of a history-making team, as the Nuggets have not won a championship since their inception as an NBA franchise.
Hopefully, we do see Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic get to the Finals. That is definitely easier said than done, as the Denver Nuggets have to defeat two experienced veteran stars in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They have the talent and depth to do so, and with Murray and Jokic at the helm, it is hard to count them out right now.
