Paige Spiranac, the social media diva, has risen to unbelievable fame in the golf community.
She is known for reigning golf Instagram with an impressive amount of followers. The same has allowed the star to be an inspiration for a lot of golf enthusiasts. Many of them look up to the influencer and she never disappoints in motivating her fans to achieve their goals.
However, the former professional golfer herself couldn’t achieve much success on the greens. This doesn’t mean that Paige has completely abandoned her love for golf. In fact, the Instagram celebrity never backs down from commenting about the game. She even shares her personal experiences on the field and how one can optimize their athletic abilities.
This time, on her podcast ‘Playing A Round,’ she opened up about her previous training as a gymnast. Although, that was not the element of surprise during the talk. It was the Maxim 2022 Sexiest Woman Alive’s inclination to a game other than the sport she is known for—golf.
Paige Spiranac reveals the game she might be better at than golf
In her latest episode, Derek Jeter & PGA Preview, Paige Spiranac started the episode by discussing her stay in the Bahamas.
The 30-year-old had attended former New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter’s Charity Golf Event for the 5th year in a row. Amidst a lot of questions in the final T&A round, a few of them were regarding Paige’s gymnastic skills, and if they have helped her game as a golfer.
The social media star went on to explain the benefits she has gained from doing gymnastics, but after facing a few serious injuries she couldn’t continue her strive. At an early pre-teen age, Spiranac realized that did not want to do gymnastics anymore, however, the young Spiranac still wanted to pursue a professional sports career

The best solution the 13-year-old could think of was to ask for her parents’ advice. The advice led the golf diva to try out her skills in tennis at a boot camp. Nonetheless, her body wouldn’t allow Spiranac to exert herself and needed a break from all the running.
The influencer mentioned, “My aunt played professional tennis. I think it was a bit too similar to gymnastics my body just needed a break even you know at 13 years old and so my dad took me out for one day on the driving range hit that first ball good and was addicted ever since.”
The love for golf that the star has, was followed by a quick comment. She said, “But I wish I stuck with tennis because I think I would have been a much better tennis player than I was a golfer.”
The reason why Spiranac wanted to go for Tennis over golf
As the social media icon revealed her regret, she also shared the reason behind her thoughts. Paige’s co-host and friend Samantha Markson, understood the former golfer’s mentality at some level. She put forth her input and commented how the long hours of golf might get too exhausting and pave the way for overthinking which is never good.
The golf fashionista affirmed Sam’s opinions and added, “better with head-to-head competitions.” She conveyed that golf is more of an individualistic game and most of the time it is just ‘you against the golf course’. While the same isn’t true for tennis.

Unlike tennis where one can see their opponent, Spiranac believed golf to not allow that room. She said that in head-to-head matches she felt more competitive. To add to her reasons, she accepted that she was more of a match-play golfer than a stroke-play one. She thrived in a team environment and the environment improved her game.
