Kevin Durant Reacts To Passing Tim Duncan On The All-Time Scoring List

LeBron James’ progress toward overtaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time top scorer has rightfully drawn all the attention this season. He’s not the only one, though; one of his greatest competitors is also making history, so he’s not the only one aiming to topple some of the greats of the past.

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers we have ever seen and even though he has put together some incredible seasons in the past, he might be currently in the midst of his best season ever. Durant is averaging 30.0 PPG this season while shooting an outrageous 56.3% from the field. His last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers saw KD score 32 points on 10-18 shooting from the field and in the process, he passed Tim Duncan on the all-time scoring list. Durant now has 26,516 points to his name and after the game, he was asked about his latest accomplishment.

Kevin Durant Reacts To Passing Tim Duncan On The All-Time Scoring List - Fadeaway World

“You wanna just show up every day, but at some point, you got to celebrate some small wins, just like the win tonight, it’s cool to celebrate that with the team. So, my career to be able to pass an all-time great, legend, somebody who changed the game, it’s something that I’ll call my folks about tonight and talk over and just reminisce on how we got here, so it’s pretty cool to do stuff like that and I want to celebrate those small things but keep pressing forward. I know I got more to do.”

He clearly is pleased to pass a great player like Duncan, but Durant made it clear that he needs to press forward because there is more that he has to do. If he manages to stay healthy and continues to average even 25.0 PPG from here on out, KD will end the season at 10th on the all-time scoring list, leapfrogging legends like Hakeem Olajuwon. He’s a good bet to then surpass both Carmelo Anthony and Shaquille O’Neal next season, which is crazy considering KD has missed almost two seasons because of injuries.

Kevin Durant And The Nets Are Rolling

This latest triumph over the Cavaliers made it 9 wins in a row for the Nets and it was the second statement win in a row as well after they beat the Milwaukee Bucks prior to this. The Nets are looking extremely dangerous and with Durant playing so well, they are a strong contender to get out of the Eastern Conference.

Not many would have seen this coming after their poor start to the season and with all the drama that was surrounding the team. The players and the coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for getting to where they are at the moment
