Seeing actors get along off-screen is always delightful. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland are both big names right now, as they’re a part of the MCU and busy working on plenty of other major productions. Both are Avengers, but are they friends in real life? Read on to find out.
Hemsworth and Holland recently starred in Avengers: Endgame
It’s been over a month since Avengers: Endgame, the epic Marvel superhero team-up flick, hit theaters. The record-breaking conclusion to the MCU’s Infinity Saga, which is currently the second highest-grossing film of all time, stunned viewers with its high stakes, emotional depth, and incredible fight scenes, all of which fit into its three-hour runtime.
Both Hemsworth and Holland were in the film. Hemsworth’s Thor had a great deal of screen time (though he wasn’t his usual self). Though Peter Parker / Spider-Man didn’t make his appearance until the final act of Endgame, he had a couple of very moving scenes when it came to showcasing his relationship with mentor Tony Stark.
Having one big-budget, box-office dominating movie this summer wasn’t enough: Holland and Hemsworth each have new movies coming out. Holland stars in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will serve as the end of Marvel’s Phase 4 and continue the story of Endgame. The film is due out July 2, 2019.
Meanwhile, Hemsworth is taking on another huge property. He stars opposite his Endgame and Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson in Men In Black: International, the third film in the franchise. Hemsworth is currently busy with promotion for the movie, which is due out June 14, 2019.
While promoting his new movie, Hemsworth shared the above video of himself “interviewing” Holland about his own upcoming flick. The entire time was spent joking with each other: Hemsworth started off asking Holland why Thor isn’t in Far From Home, to which Holland replied, “It’s really for the front-running Avengers in this movie. It’s about who’s going to step up and take [Robert Downey Jr.’s] spot.”
Another funny comment was when Hemsworth called Endgame his “Oscar attempt,” saying he went “full method” in regards to Thor’s physique. Additionally, Holland said that Hemsworth’s brother, Liam, is his favorite actor, and followed that up by adding that Luke Hemsworth (their other brother), is “super talented.”
As previously mentioned, Holland and Hemsworth don’t share many scenes together in the MCU. They both starred in Avengers: Infinity War, but never interacted. And in Endgame, they were both a part of the massive battle at the end but didn’t exactly have time to converse.
However, they have done one other project together. Hemsworth and Holland both starred in the 2015 drama In the Heart of the Sea. At the time, Hemsworth was already a big part of the MCU, but Holland didn’t become a part of it until 2016 when he appeared in Captain America: Civil War.
