BossLogic’s final artwork of the year imagines Henry Cavill as the Sentry in the MCU.
With Henry Cavill getting left out in the cold in the DCU, there seems to be an increased interest from the actor’s fans to see him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are many potential characters Cavill could play in the MCU, with some characters mentioned by fans including Captain Britain, Wolverine, and Reed Richards. BossLogic has gotten in on the conversation with his final piece of digital artwork for the year, imagining Cavill as he might appear in the role of the Sentry.
BossLogic
The Sentry is a character who is reminiscent of Superman in many ways, boasting superhuman strength, speed, and flight, among other superpowers. He first began appearing in Marvel comic books in 2000 and has since been used in a variety of video games, but the character has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There has been speculation that he could show up as the villain in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst has also been campaigning for the role.
“I’m very often asked if I would like to play a character from a comic book? Yes. Who? I didn’t know for a while,” Hurst wrote on Instagram last year. “Such a fan of so many, but yeah. Dude with troubled past, superpowers equal/greater to SUPERMAN and Thor combined…and talks to dogs. I’m putting this out there. This dude. I’d like to play.”

What’s Next for Henry Cavill?
As for Henry Cavill, a spot in the MCU does seem like a good possibility, but it’s hard to say when he might potentially show up in that world. Cavill has previously said he’d be open to joining the MCU, naming Captain Britain as one particular character he’d enjoy playing, as he doesn’t want to take on a role that’s already been played recently by another actor in a Marvel film.
“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job,” he told THR last year. “However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that – like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”
What we know is that Cavill has signed on to produce and star in a series adaptation of Warhammer 40K. That will help him fill some of the free time he had after leaving The Witcher and his planned Superman return. Time will tell who he plays in the MCU, but his arrival in that world does seem inevitable.
