Jamie O’Hara claimed on Twitter that former club Tottenham Hotspur have been in contact with him following his high-profile rant against the state of the current squad.
The ex-Spurs midfielder tore into his former club on Sky Sports, claiming that they were ‘nowhere near’ their competitors for the top four, and highlighted Arsenal as an example of a team that are bearing the fruit of investment this season.
O’Hara subsequently told his 116,000 Twitter followers that Spurs had contacted their former star following his TV appearance, and he claimed that the club were ‘not happy’.

Following his words on Sky, the 36-year-old took to social media to reveal that his outpouring had not gone unnoticed by his former employers.
He wrote: ‘Let’s just say Spurs have been on the phone and they’re not happy about what I’ve had to say.’
And it is hardly surprising that O’Hara’s words might have struck a chord with Tottenham, after his less than positive analysis of the state of the current group of players at Antonio Conte’s disposal.
The Italian manager himself has been one of the club’s most vocal critics due to their reluctant activity in the transfer market, and has previously claimed that he could leave the club unless he ‘accepts’ that his side cannot compete for trophies.
And O’Hara picked out several of the current defenders available for selection as part of his scathing review of the 2022-23 roster at the north London side.
‘(Japhet) Tanganga, Eric Dier, (Ryan) Sessegnon, Matt Doherty,’ he began in his Sky Sports rant. ‘Good players but we want to kick on. Look at Arsenal, we pipped them to fourth spot last season but we’ve gone backwards while they’ve kicked on. Conte will walk in the end. He needs top class centre-halves, top class wing-backs.
‘He’s brought in (Ivan) Perisic, he’s 33. (Ryan) Sessegnon’s not good enough. They’ve brought in Djed Spence, who he doesn’t trust, then got Doherty and (Emerson) Royal to choose from.

‘Come on, what chance have you got? We had Kyle Walker playing for Tottenham, top player. We are nowhere near it. We need top players.’
But it was not just the squad that came under fire from the 36-year-old, who also claimed that the manager was too stubborn in his tactical choices, although he was praised by O’Hara for getting the club into the Champions League.
As for the board at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the former midfielder claimed that they had ‘not been good enough’ and predicted that the worst was yet to come for the north London club, stating ‘it’s all downhill from here!’
