Becoming a mother is a desire of many women, certainly not all, but motherhood is a very important phase in the female world. Sometimes the road is not as simple as one might think, there are many stories of women who are unable to have children and have to seek medical help or think about adoption.
Such is the case with Manda Epton, who spent £40,000, equivalent to $53,000, on ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛs over a decade. Although she suffered three ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs along the way, the British finally fulfilled her dream: she gave birth to two beautiful twins at the age of 50. Her story has already gone viral.
Manda Epton always wanted to “have a family” and when their long-term relationship fell apart, she decided to get pregnant as a single mom at 39. Since then, the fashion designer from Oxford (United Kingdom) began the path of ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ.
“I started doing ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛs when I was 39 years old, since I had always dreamed of having a family. I continued to date throughout the 10 years, but I always felt this pressure because I still wanted children. I ran out of time to share parenting with someone,” Manda explained.
Epton underwent 23 ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛs and had three ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs in 11 years. After initial attempts failed, a psychotherapist assured the 43-year-old that she “would never” be a mother. “I started spending my income and savings on ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ clinics. One of the clinics referred me to a psychotherapist who told me that she had to accept the fact that she would never have children at 43 years old,” she recalled.
However, Manda went ahead: she underwent fourteen rounds of ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ, all of which were unsuccessful. “I struggled with ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs and part of me wanted to give up at some points, but I really wanted to have children of my own. I even thought about adoption, but the waiting list was seven years long and single women were at the bottom of the list.”
In the midst of her struggle, a friend of Manda’s appeared as a guardian angel and recommended that she visit Cape Fertility in South Africa. Without thinking twice, Epton stepped into the clinic and not only did she get the expected result, but the ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ was much cheaper than what she was paying in Australia.
“I decided to go it alone with the help of a sperm donor and an egg donor via I.V.F. I come from a background of blonde hair and blue eyes, so I chose a beautiful egg donor from South Africa and was able to search for a sperm donor, finally choosing one from Denmark,” Manda Epton detailed.
Under that line, Manda specified that “I spent 8 thousand pounds in the clinic and they transferred two embryos to me, since it was my last chance and I really wanted at least one of them to be successful.”
After her stay in the African country, Manda traveled back to her home in Australian territory, where in August 2018, at the age of 50, she became the mother of twins Chloe and Frey.
Today, the brave Manda Epton, 54, spends as much time as possible with her little ones in Sydney and says that ɪɴ ᴠɪᴛʀᴏ ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ “is the best decision I’ve ever made.”
