There are so many professional footballers who adore Cristiano Ronaldo.
But perhaps none of them have more love for the great man than his former Real Madrid teammate, Marcelo.
The two spent nine trophy-filled years together in the Spanish capital, the Brazilian icon assisting a significant number of Ronaldo’s 450 goals for Los Blancos.
Their partnership on the left was as deadly as it gets in football and they seemed pretty inseparable at Real Madrid.
So when Marcelo finally left the club back in the summer, Ronaldo posted a very touching message on Instagram.
He wrote to his hundreds of millions of followers: “More than a teammate, a brother that football gave me.
“On and off the fields, one of the biggest stars with whom I had the pleasure of sharing a locker room. Go with everything on this new adventure, Marcelo.”
Yeah, you’ll never hear Ronaldo say a bad word about Marcelo – and vice versa.
Despite the fact they’re now separated by a continent following Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, the pair’s bromance is still as strong as ever.
On Wednesday evening, Marcelo decided to pay tribute to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner by performing the iconic ‘SIUUU’ celebration after his latest goal for Greek side, Olympiakos.
Olympiakos drew 2-2 with Atromitos in the second leg of their Greek Cup last-16 tie, which saw them progress to the quarter-finals with a 6-3 aggregate victory.
Marcelo’s goal was a brilliant finish on the volley as well, one which put his team 2-1 ahead just before the half-time interval…
Marcelo’s love for Ronaldo is still there for all to see!
After a tough start to life at Olympiakos, it looks as if Marcelo is finally beginning to find his feet out in Greece.
The trailblazing left-back bagged a brace in the home fixture against Atromitos, his first goals for the club.
Sadly, we won’t be seeing Marcelo in European competition for the remainder of 2022/23 after Olympiakos’ disastrous Europa League campaign.
They finished rock bottom of Group G, failing to win a single game and mustering only two draws.
Cristiano Ronaldo astounds Al-Nassr team-mate as he sends strong message in training
Former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is still waiting to make his debut for Al-Nassr but left one of his new team-mates astonished with his physical prowess
Cristiano Ronaldo gobsmacked one of his new team-mates as he proved he is still as physically dominant as ever during an Al-Nassr training session.
Any concerns about Ronaldo’s physical condition have quickly been put to bed, as he was pictured jumping an enormous distance off the ground to try and get on the end of a cross in training. His great leap left a team-mate directly behind him with an expression of disbelief – and was even reminiscent of his stunning header for Juventus against Sampdoria in 2019.
Garcia is delighted to have added Ronaldo to his side’s ranks and hailed his impact and attitude, even if he has been made to wait for his debut. “It’s great. Great for us, for Al-Nassr. Great for Saudi Arabia,” The Frenchman said of Ronaldo’s arrival.
” Cristiano Ronaldo is more than a player. He is one of the best players in the world. It’s amazing how much it’s put a spotlight on our club. Now, everyone knows where our club is around the world. We must have gone from 800,000 (followers) to 10million in a few hours, a few days, because of Cristiano’s arrival.
Garcia added: “The greatest champions are the easiest to manage. He (Ronaldo) blended in with the squad. We saw him joking and laughing with pleasure with his new team-mates. He was with us for the last game, even if he couldn’t play. He was in the locker room, riding his bike.”
Ronaldo is famously meticulous about his training and diet regime, which explains why he has broken so many records across his iconic career. Although many see his move to Al-Nassr as the beginning of the end for the former Sporting Lisbon prospect, he will be as driven as ever to prove he can still make a profound impact in front of goal.
