It’s astonishing how an elephant could sleep across the street and obstruct traffic. Nattawat Patsungsing, a 57-year-old motorcycle rider from Nakhon Ratchasima in northern Tʜᴀɪʟᴀɴᴅ, was late for work due to the animal’s obstinate laydown that lasted about 20 minutes.
Mr. Patsungsing, who was shooting the beautiful Iɴᴅɪᴀn elephant from his car, had to stop and keep quiet in order to avoid being charged by it. Mr. Patsungsing drove slowly ᴄʟᴏsᴇ to the elephant.
Zooming in, one could see the animal moving its ears and legs while it slept silently. Patsungsing was made to wait as he saw the elephant’s enormous body completely block the road and his protruding ears flap in sleep. The man patiently waited inside his car for the large beast to awaken for around twenty minutes.
The elephant finally stretched his legs. As Mr. Patsungsing moved slowly away, it continued to stare. Oh boy…you were taking all the way, could you move, little lad, Mr. Patsungsing said? He has to go to work.
When questioned afterwards, the driver said that local wildlife officials had told him that the troublesome elephant’s name was Nga-Thong, which is Thai for “golden tusk.” The creature was frequently seen lying on the concrete road to warm up, according to officials.
