Egypt’s Antiquities Ministry says archaeologists are starting radar scans of the tomb of famed pharaoh Tutankhamun in the southern city of Luxor. The ministry said the scans will be carried out over a week to check for the existence of any hidden chambers behind the tomb. Part of an “exceptionally rare” Iron Age wooden axle from a chariot or cart has been found in a waterlogged pit. The fragment was uncovered in 2021 at Eastbridge, Suffolk, ahead of tree planting for the Sizewell C nuclear power station project. Recent analysis revealed the hazel wood axle was made between 400BC and 100BC. The huge spherical stone which was discovered last month in the Podubravlje forest in Bosnia is puzzling the scientific community. The half-buried stone was found by Bosnian archaeologist Sam Osmanagich. According to estimates, it weighs about 30 tons and measures up to 1.5 metres in diameter.
